By car from Calais
Leave Shuttle/Ferry - Follow signs Paris and Reims, keep following Reims (about 2 ½ hours.)
After Reims- Follow signs Dijon and Lyon.
At Dijon- (about another 2 ½ hours.) follow Genève and Lyon.
When you reach the A39 & A36 intersection near Dôle you have about 2 ½ hours driving time left at 130 kmph.
When you reach the flying saucer on your right you have 2 hours left. At “la Bresse” service station there is another 1 ½ to go, keep following Genève and Lyon.
You go through a series of tunnels at Nantua then over the Rhone on a high viaduct, 1 hour to go.
At Genève – Stay on A40 s.p. Chamonix, Mont Blanc tunnel and Turin.
At Cluses Junction 18 – Leave A40 through peage and around the outskirts of the town, s.p. Taninges, Samoëns and Morzine. Follow the mountain up out of Cluses, through village of Chatillon.
After Chatillon- go down the hill for 1 km or so, then take a right fork s.p. Morillon and Samoëns. When you get to Morillon, about 5 km, you'll enter the village under an arch, passing the shops and then the telecabine on your right, continue through the village.
For Chalet Brio and La Terrasse:
Just before you leave the village take the fork to the right by a cross. Continue up the hill for about 500m, over a river, through a timber yard and at this point you will enter L’Etelley. After 200 m. you pass a left hand turn s.p for Samoens, immediately after this you turn right by the small church, follow the road round and Chalet Brio is the last building on the left.
For Ferme Dowena:
Instead of turning right at the cross continue on the main road out of Morillon and head for Samoens. After about 1 Km take a right turn up towards L'Etelley. If you look up to your left you can see a group of farm buildings facing you. After about 300m turn left by a small cluster of trees along a made up track. As you approach the chalets turn right up a driveway, Ferme Dowena is at the top on your left. Parking is just in front.
By air: from Geneva Airport – Swiss side
Always try and hire your car from the Swiss side, it is much easier than from the French side as you are given a car with a permit to drive on the Swiss motorways.
Exit airport turning right on to the dual carriage way. After a few 100 yards you will see a turning to the left marked to the French motorway, turn left and keep following signs to the French motorway. This will bring you through the Swiss frontier and you will join the A40 in France. Follow signs to Chamonix, Mont Blanc Tunnel & TurinS .
Continue by following the instructions above from Geneva to the chalet.
